Mobile Phone TV: NBA Playoffs Live Streaming on SmartPhone: Watch Chicago Bulls vs Indiana Pacers on Android

The 2011 NBA Playoffs will begin on Saturday April 16, 2011. The 2011 NBA Playoffs is the postseason for the National Basketball Association’s 2010–11 season. Eight teams from each of the league’s two conferences will qualify for the playoffs, all seeded 1 to 8 in a tournament bracket, with all rounds in a best-of-seven format.

The Chicago Bulls achieved several ‘firsts’ since the 1997-98 season: best record in the Eastern Conference, a Central Division title, and 60 victories. In addition, they will face the Indiana Pacers for the first time since that same year. The Pacers will appear in the playoffs for the first time since 2006, as will the Memphis Grizzlies. The New York Knicks will make the playoffs for the first time since 2004, but this will be their first playoff appearance as an above .500 team since 2001. The Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Hornets will appear for the third time in four years. The other 11 teams were in the playoffs last year.

The Bulls had two 1st round picks in the 2009 NBA Draft and decided to take Wake Forest stand out forward James Johnson and athletic USC forward Taj Gibson. In the 2009 NBA off-season the Bulls lost their leading scorer, Ben Gordon, when he signed with their divisional rival, the Detroit Pistons. On February 18, 2010, John Salmons was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for Joe Alexander and Hakim Warrick. Meanwhile, Tyrus Thomas was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats for Acie Law, Flip Murray and a future protected first round pick. On April 14, 2010, the Bulls clinched the playoffs with the number 8 seed; the fifth time in six years that they have made the playoffs. Unlike the previous year, however, the Bulls’ playoff run was shorter and less dramatic as they were eliminated by the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games. On May 4, 2010, the Bulls officially fired head coach Vinny Del Negro.

In early June 2010, Boston Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau accepted a three-year contract to fill the Bulls’ head coaching vacancy. He was officially introduced on June 23, 2010. On July 7, 2010 it was revealed that Carlos Boozer of the Utah Jazz had verbally agreed to an $80 million, five year contract. Afterwards, the Bulls traded veteran point guard Kirk Hinrich to the Washington Wizards to create more cap space. The Bulls also signed former 76er and Jazz guard Kyle Korver to a 3 year, $15 million contract. The same day that the Chicago Bulls signed Kyle Korver, they signed Turkish All-Star Ömer A??k. After being matched by the Orlando Magic for J.J. Redick they signed former Grizzlies player Ronnie Brewer, traded for former Warrior player C.J. Watson, and signed former Bucks player Kurt Thomas as well as former Spurs player Keith Bogans and former Celtics player Brian Scalabrine.

The Bulls dominated the Eastern Conference in the 2010-11 NBA season with their first 60-win season since 1997-98. They clinched the Central Division title and gained the Number 1 seed for the Eastern Conference for the first time since Michael Jordan retired.

The Indiana Pacers are a professional basketball team based in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are members of the Central Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Pacers play their home games at Conseco Fieldhouse, which they share which their WNBA counterpart, the Indiana Fever, also owned by Herb Simon.

The Indiana Pacers began play in 1967 as members of the American Basketball Association (ABA), where they won three championships and created a dynasty. In 1976, the Pacers moved from the ABA to the NBA when the Indiana dynasty ended and the Pacer organization began to struggle. The Pacers organization saw success with the acquisition of Reggie Miller. Following the appearance in the 2000 NBA Finals, the Pacers have not seen much playoff success, not seeing postseason play since the 2005–2006 season.

Android Market is the online software store developed by Google for Android devices. An application program (“app”) called “Market” is preinstalled on most Android devices and allows users to browse and download apps published by third-party developers, hosted on Android Market. As of December 2010[update] there were about 200,000 games, applications and widgets available on the Android Market, with an estimated 2.5 billion total downloads.

Only devices that comply with Google’s compatibility requirements are allowed to preinstall Google’s closed-source Android Market app and access the Market. The Market filters the list of applications presented by the Market app to those that are compatible with the user’s device, and developers may restrict their applications to particular carriers or countries for business reasons.

Google announced the Android Market on 28 August 2008, and it was available to users on 22 October 2008. Support for paid applications was available from 13 February 2009 for US and UK developers, with additional support from 29 countries on 30 September 2010. In February 2011, the Android Market was made fully accessible on the web, allowing users to browse and pick up applications using their PCs, send them to their mobile phone and make comments on them. All this functionality was previously accessible only from mobile phone devices.

Users can install apps directly using APK files, or from alternative app markets. Unlike Apple, Google allows independent app stores to operate for Android.

The New York Yankees are a professional baseball team based in the borough of the Bronx, in New York City, New York. They belong to Major League Baseball’s American League East Division. One of the American League’s eight charter franchises, the club was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1901 as the Baltimore Orioles and moved to New York City in 1903, becoming known as the New York Highlanders before being officially renamed the “Yankees” in 1913. From 1923 to 2008, the Yankees’ home ballpark was Yankee Stadium, one of the world’s most famous sports venues. In 2009, they moved into a new stadium, also called “Yankee Stadium”.

As of 2010, the franchise, which most recently won the World Series in 2009, lead the league in both revenue and titles, with 27 World Series championships and 40 American League pennants. Throughout its existence, the team has had some of the most celebrated players in Major League history, including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Yogi Berra. Forty-three Yankees players and eleven Yankees managers have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the team has retired the numbers of 16 people.

The Yankees have achieved widespread popularity and a dedicated fanbase, although during the era of ownership by George Steinbrenner, they acquired a polarizing reputation from heavy spending on player salaries for the sake of recruiting top talent. Their rivalry with the Boston Red Sox is arguably the fiercest and most historic in North American professional sports. To support the Yankees and expand their media coverage, the dedicated television channel YES Network was launched in 2002.

F1 Stream on Android Mobile Phone: Watch Malaysia (Malaysian) Grand Prix on HTC Inspire 4G

Mobile Phone TV: F1 Stream on Android Mobile Phone: Watch Malaysia (Malaysian) Grand Prix on HTC Inspire 4G

First included in the Formula One World Championship in 1999, the current Malaysian Grand Prix is held at the Sepang International Circuit at Sepang, Malaysia. FIA-sanctioned racing in Malaysia has existed since the 1960s. For 2011, the race will change its name to the Malaysia Grand Prix.

The nine World Championship Malaysian Grands Prix have seen a good deal of action on and off the track, whilst the weather—furnace heat one minute, tropical storm the next—adds extra spice. The most notable Grand Prix at Sepang to date was the inaugural event in 1999. It saw Michael Schumacher return to the sport after his absence due to a broken leg sustained at that year’s British Grand Prix, dominating the race and handing the victory to title-hopeful team-mate Eddie Irvine, only for both Ferraris to be disqualified due to a technical irregularity, handing the title—until the steward’s decision was over-ruled—to Mika Häkkinen.

The 2001 event was hit by a heavy rainstorm in the middle of the race which made conditions very difficult. Conditions were so bad that the two Ferraris of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello spun off almost simultaneously at the same corner. Remarkably, they both recovered to score a Ferrari “1-2″, because for a long time they were nearly 5 seconds faster than anyone else on the field. Elsewhere, the race was even led by Jos Verstappen, surprisingly. However, as the track begun to dry, he fell back to 7th, but his efforts to keep positions were memorable.

Since 2001, the Malaysian Grand Prix has moved from the end of the schedule to the beginning, which has seen some topsy-turvy results as teams and drivers get to grips with their new equipment, with many races heavily influenced by the winners and losers of the scramble for position into the tight double hairpin bend at the first corner.

On 8 April 2007, shortly before the 2007 Malaysian Grand Prix, Formula One president Bernie Ecclestone was quoted as stating that the circuit was getting “shabby” and “a bit tired” from the lack of care, describing it as “an old house that needs a bit of redecorating”. He noted that the circuit itself is not the issue, but rather the surrounding environ; rubbish is said to be littered all over the place, potentially damaging the circuit’s good reputation when it was opened in 1999.

The day before, Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had met Ecclestone to discuss an extension of the Formula One contract beyond 2010. While the government had been given an additional extension to host the Grand Prix until 2015, the government was still mulling the offer, as of 23 April 2007. The circuit was given a renewed contract in 2006 to organise the Malaysian Grand Prix for another five years.

The HTC Inspire 4G (codename “Stallion”) is the first smartphone available on AT&T Wireless branded as “4G”. It was first announced at CES on January 6th 2011, and is a variant of the HTC Desire HD.[citation needed] It features an 8 MP camera and dual LED flash, in-camera editing, live picture effects, and a 720p camcorder to capture HD video and instantaneous uploads. The 16M color TFT display of the phone offers images with enhanced 480×800 pixels as well as a 4.3″ touchscreen panel with HTC Sense UI and multi-touch input support.

Original specs pointed out the existence of HSUPA to enhance the upload speeds under the 3G network, but as early adopters inquired about slow upload connections, AT&T replied that the Inspire 4G is not HSUPA capable. However, the Inspire 4G is fully capable of HSUPA, but is purposely disabled by AT&T for unknown reasons.

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is a family-owned and -operated business venture that sanctions and governs multiple auto racing sports events. It was founded by Bill France Sr. in 1947–48. As of 2009, the CEO for the company is Brian France, grandson of the late Bill France Sr. NASCAR is the largest sanctioning body of stock car racing in the United States. The three largest racing series sanctioned by NASCAR are the Sprint Cup Series, the Nationwide Series, and the Camping World Truck Series. It also oversees NASCAR Local Racing, the Whelen Modified Tour, the Whelen All-American Series, and the NASCAR iRacing.com Series. NASCAR sanctions over 1500 races at over 100 tracks in 39 states, and Canada. NASCAR has presented exhibition races at the Suzuka and Motegi circuits in Japan, Mexico, and Calder Park Raceway in Australia.

NASCAR’s headquarters are located in Daytona Beach, Florida, although it also maintains offices in four North Carolina cities: Charlotte, Mooresville, Concord, and Conover. Regional offices are also located in New York City, Los Angeles, Bentonville, Arkansas, and international offices in Mexico City and Toronto. Additionally, owing to its southern roots, all but a handful of NASCAR teams are still based in North Carolina, especially near Charlotte.

NASCAR is one of the most viewed professional sports in terms of television ratings in the United States. In fact, professional football is the only sport in the United States to hold more viewers than NASCAR. Internationally, NASCAR races are broadcast in over 150 countries. NASCAR holds 17 of the top 20 attended single-day sporting events in the world, and claims 75 million fans who purchase over $3 billion in annual licensed product sales. Fortune 500 companies sponsor NASCAR more than any other motor sport, although this has been in decline since the early 2000s.

A smartphone is a mobile phone that offers more advanced computing ability and connectivity than a contemporary feature phone. Smartphones and feature phones may be thought of as handheld computers integrated with a mobile telephone, but while most feature phones are able to run applications based on platforms such as Java ME, a smartphone usually allows the user to install and run more advanced applications. Smartphones run complete operating system software providing a platform for application developers. Thus, they combine the functions of a camera phone and a personal digital assistant (PDA).

Some smartphones, sometimes called NirvanaPhones, have a docking station with an external display and keyboard to create a desktop or laptop environment.

Growth in demand for advanced mobile devices boasting powerful processors, abundant memory, larger screens, and open operating systems has outpaced the rest of the mobile phone market for several years. According to a study by ComScore, over 45.5 million people in the United States owned smartphones in 2010 out of 234 million total subscribers. Despite the large increase in smartphone sales in the last few years, smartphone shipments only make up 20% of total handset shipments, as of the first half of 2010. In March 2011 Berg Insight reported data that showed global smartphone shipments increased 74% from 2009 to 2010.

Mobile Phone TV: Watch NHL on Andorid Phones: Buffalo Sabres vs Toronto Maple Leafs

The Buffalo Sabres are a professional ice hockey team based in Buffalo, New York. They are members of the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL)

The Sabres, along with the Vancouver Canucks, joined the NHL in the 1970-71 season. Their first owners were Seymour Knox III and Northrup Knox, scions of a family long prominent in Western New York. Buffalo had long been a hotbed for hockey. The Buffalo Bisons had been one of the pillars of the American Hockey League (AHL), winning the Calder Cup in their final season.

Wanting a different name other than “bison” that was so common among Buffalo sports teams, the Knoxes immediately commissioned a name-the-team contest. The winning choice, “Sabres”, was chosen because Seymour Knox felt a sabre was a weapon carried by a leader. He also noted that a sabre is swift and strong on offense as well as defense. The Knoxes had tried twice before to get an NHL team, first when the NHL expanded in 1967, and then unsuccessfully attempting to buy the Oakland Seals with the intent of moving them to Buffalo. At the time of their creation, the Sabres exercised their option to create their own AHL farm team, the Cincinnati Swords.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a professional ice hockey team based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They are members of the Northeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The organization, one of the “Original Six” members of the NHL, is officially known as the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club and is the leading subsidiary of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, (MLSE). They have played at the Air Canada Centre (ACC) since 1999, after 68 years at Maple Leaf Gardens. Toronto won their last Stanley Cup in 1967.

The Leafs are well known for their long and bitter rivalries with the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators. The franchise’s 13 championships are second only to the Canadiens, who have 24. Toronto has won eleven Stanley Cups as the Maple Leafs since the cup became solely competed for within the NHL in 1927, and two cups prior to this: one as the St. Patricks, and one as the Arenas. However, the Leafs have not won the Cup at all since 1967, giving them the longest-active Cup drought in the NHL, and thus are the only Original Six team that has not won the Cup since the 1967 NHL expansion.

At $505 million US (in 2010), the Leafs are the most valuable team in the NHL, followed by the New York Rangers and the Montreal Canadiens.

The Android Market was announced on 28 August 2008 and was made available to users on 22 October 2008. Priced application support was added for U.S. users and developers in the U.S. and UK in mid-February 2009. UK users gained the ability to purchase priced applications on 13 March 2009.

On 17 March 2009, there were about 2,300 applications available for download from the Android Market, according to T-Mobile chief technical officer Cole Brodman.

By December 2009, there were over 20,000 applications available for download in the Android Market.

By August 2010, there were over 80,0 applications available for download in the Android Market, with over 1 billion application downloads.[7][8] Recent months (in 2010) have shown an ever increasing growth rate, recently (in May 2010) surpassing 10,000 additional applications per month.

A report in July 2010, a company named Distimo showed that the Android Market features the highest percentage of free apps, with over 57% being free to download, double the amount of Apple Inc.’s App Store, in which only 28% of apps are free. Other competitors, such as Nokia’s Ovi Store and Blackberry’s App World had 26%, with Windows Marketplace only having 22%.

In December 2010, it was reported that the Market would shortly receive an update, which will, alongside some minor updates, will add content-filtering to the market, and will reduce the purchase refund window from 24/48 hours to 15 minutes. Google has said that the new update would be available to all devices running Android 1.6 or higher, and arrived on unlocked HTC Desires in the UK on 16th December.

On December 31, 2010 the Android market reached the 200,000 app milestone.

On February 2, 2011 Google presented a new web client providing access to the market via PC. Requested Apps will directly be downloaded and installed on the registered Android device.

The inaugural Cricket World Cup was hosted in 1975 by England, the only nation able to put forward the resources to stage an event of such magnitude at that time. The 1975 tournament started on June 7. The first three events were held in England and officially known as the Prudential Cup after the sponsors Prudential plc. The matches consisted of 60 six-ball overs per team, played during the daytime in traditional form, with the players wearing cricket whites and using red cricket balls.

Eight teams participated in the first tournament: Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and the West Indies (the six Test nations at the time), together with Sri Lanka and a composite team from East Africa. One notable omission was South Africa, who were banned from international cricket due to apartheid. The tournament was won by the West Indies, who defeated Australia by 17 runs in the final at Lord’s.

The 1979 World Cup saw the introduction of the ICC Trophy competition to select non-Test playing teams for the World Cup, with Sri Lanka and Canada qualifying. West Indies won a second consecutive World Cup tournament, defeating the hosts, England, by 92 runs in the final. At a meeting which followed the World Cup, the International Cricket Conference agreed to make the competition a quadrennial event.

The 1983 event was hosted by England for a third consecutive time. By this time, Sri Lanka had become a Test-playing nation, and Zimbabwe qualified through the ICC Trophy. A fielding circle was introduced, 30 yards (27 m) away from the stumps. Four fieldsmen needed to be inside it at all times. India, an outsider quoted at 66-1 to win by bookmakers before the competition began, were crowned champions after upsetting the West Indies by 43 runs in the final.

Canalys reported that in Q4 2010 the Android operating system was the world’s best-selling smartphone platform, dethroning Nokia’s Symbian from the 10-year top position. Jumping from 23.5 percent, Android now represents 31.2 percent of the U.S smartphone market. According to Gartner, Symbian is still slightly ahead on sales if some legacy non-Nokia Symbian smartphones are included in the Q4 2010 figures.

The Boston Red Sox are a professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts, and a member of the Major League Baseball’s American League Eastern Division. Founded in 1901 as one of the American League’s eight charter franchises, the Red Sox’s home ballpark has been Fenway Park since 1912. The “Red Sox” name was chosen by the team owner, John I. Taylor, around 1908, following previous Boston teams that had been known as the “Red Stockings”.

Boston was a dominant team in the new league, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first World Series in 1903 and winning four more championships by 1918. However, they then went into one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history, called by some the “Curse of the Bambino” after its alleged beginning with the Red Sox’s sale of Babe Ruth to the rival Yankees in 1918, an 86-year wait before the team’s sixth World Championship in 2004. However, the team’s history during that period was hardly one of futility, but was rather punctuated with some of the most memorable moments in World Series history, including Enos Slaughter’s “mad dash” in 1946, the “Impossible Dream” of 1967, Carlton Fisk’s home run in 1975, and Bill Buckner’s error in 1986. Red Sox history has also been marked by the team’s intense rivalry with the New York Yankees, arguably the fiercest and most historic in North American professional sports. Since 2003, the Red Sox have been perennial playoff contenders and have won two World Series, emerging as one of the most successful MLB teams of the last decade.

The Red Sox are consistently one of the top MLB teams in average road attendance, while the small capacity of Fenway Park prevents them from leading in overall attendance. Every home game since May 15, 2003 has been sold out—an MLB record that has spanned over seven years.

The HTC Desire (codenamed Bravo) is a smartphone developed by the HTC Corporation, announced on 16 February 2010 and released in Europe and Australia in the second quarter of the same year. The HTC Desire runs the Android operating system, version 2.2 “Froyo”. Android, version 2.3 “Gingerbread” update coming in May or June 2011. Internally it bears a strong resemblance to the Nexus One, but differs in some features.

The phone uses a 1 GHz ARMv7 “Snapdragon” processor, includes a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera and an optical trackpad, and was among the first consumer devices to feature a large, full-color active-matrix OLED (AMOLED) display.

During late Q2 2010, HTC made the decision to switch the Desire’s display to a Sony “Super LCD” panel. Although this was brought on by a severe AMOLED panel supply shortfall, the new display greatly enhances text readability because of its improved effective resolution, one of the few complaints people had with the original Desire model.

Compared to the original AMOLED display, the SLCD display has more accurate color reproduction, far less susceptibility to burn-in, similar peak brightness and optimal viewing angles, but a lower contrast ratio.

The new SLCD display was claimed to have similar or better power efficiency compared with the original AMOLED display; however, this has proved to not always be the case because with AMOLED pixels’ ability to completely turn off, black or dark pixels use very little power. However, in situations when the screen is predominantly bright (such as when viewing many web pages), the AMOLED display uses more power.

The hardware is capable of high-definition (720p) video recording and playback.

ESPN Star Sports (or ESS and stylized as ESPN STAR Sports) is a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company (through ESPN Inc., which it directly owns) and News Corporation (through Star TV, which it directly owns). The venture has its base in Singapore and operates 17 ESPN and STAR Sports branded networks throughout Asia, transmitting in 5 languages (English, Cantonese, Hindi, Korean and Mandarin). The networks broadcast various local and international sporting events, and also local editions of SportsCenter for China, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. ESPN Star Sports also operates a 24-hour Cricket channel, STAR Cricket. Star Sports launched STAR Sports Thailand on Monday August 4, 2008 exclusively for Thai viewers. ESPN Star Sports is currently in the process of down-linking of their new channel: “ESPNews India” to India.

ESPN Star Sports also has Asia’s leading Events Management team that has been successfully staging large-scale sporting events across Asia. The Event Management team is a completely integrated events group that manages concept creation, sponsorship, marketing, PR, TV broadcast, operations, and logistics for clients. Events currently in their portfolio include the X Games Asia, 9 Ball Tour, KL World 5′s Futsal, Cartier Polo, Formula Drift Singapore, Nations Cup Netball, Indian Hockey League, and the World Pool Championship.

One of the biggest successes for the Event Management team was the creation of the Premier Hockey League (PHL) in India. PHL is a professional league competition for field Hockey clubs in the top division of the Indian hockey system, though there has always been strong foreign representation among the players. PHL is a joint venture between ESPN Star Sports and the erstwhile Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) but with the suspension of the IHF on April 28, 2008, the future of PHL remains uncertain. ESPN Star Sports was launched the same day with Disney Channel Asia.

ESPN Star was also famed for their being Asia’s largest broadcaster of the English FA Premier League, during the 2000s, with commentators like John Dykes and a host of former Premier league players as guests and pundits on the shows.

Android has seen a number of updates since its original release. These updates to the base operating system typically fix bugs and add new features. Generally each new version of the Android operating system is developed under a code name based on a dessert item.

The most recent released versions of Android are:

* 2.0/2.1 (Eclair), which revamped the user interface and introduced HTML5 and Exchange ActiveSync 2.5 support

* 2.2 (Froyo), which introduced speed improvements with JIT optimization and the Chrome V8 JavaScript engine, and added Wi-Fi hotspot tethering and Adobe Flash support

* 2.3 (Gingerbread), which refined the user interface, improved the soft keyboard and copy/paste features, and added support for Near Field Communication

* 3.0 (Honeycomb), a tablet-oriented release which supports larger screen devices and introduces many new user interface features, and supports multicore processors and hardware acceleration for graphics. The Honeycomb SDK has been released and the first device featuring this version, the Motorola Xoom tablet, went on sale in February 2011.

Upcoming versions of Android are:

* 2.3.3 (Gingerbread), an update to 2.3, anticipated to be released in April 2011. Initially, Google wanted to name that version 2.4, but renumbered the version afterwards.

* Ice-cream sandwich, a combination of 2.3 Gingerbread and 3.0 Honeycomb into a “cohesive whole,” with a possible release in mid-2011.

Manchester United Football Club is an English professional football club, based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, that plays in the Premier League. Founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, the club changed its name to Manchester United in 1902 and moved to Old Trafford in 1910.

In 1968, under the management of Matt Busby, Manchester United was the first English football club to win the European Cup, ten years after the Munich air disaster that claimed the lives of eight players. The current manager, Alex Ferguson, is the most successful manager in the club’s history, having won 26 major honours since he took over in November 1986.

Having won 18 league titles, four League Cups and a record 11 FA Cups, Manchester United is one of the most successful clubs in the history of English football. The club has also won three European Cups and is unique in having won a Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League Treble, in the 1998–99 season.

Manchester United is one of the wealthiest and most widely supported football teams in the world. The club is said to be worth £1.19 billion, making it the most valuable football club in the world. After being floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1991, the club was purchased by Malcolm Glazer in May 2005 in a deal valuing the club at almost £800 million.

The HTC Desire (codenamed Bravo) is a smartphone developed by the HTC Corporation, announced on February 16, 2010 and released in Europe and Australia in the second quarter of the same year. The HTC Desire runs the Android operating system, version 2.2 “Froyo”. Android, version 2.3 “Gingerbread” update coming in May or June 2011. Internally it bears a strong resemblance to the Nexus One, but differs in some features.

The phone is powered by a 1 GHz ARMv7 “Snapdragon” processor, includes a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera and an optical trackpad, and was among the first consumer devices to feature a large, full-color AMOLED display.

In the United States, the device is available from, Alltel, U.S. Cellular,[6] Cellular South,[7] Cox Wireless, and United Wireless in southwest Kansas. In Canada, the device was released by Telus Mobility on 6 August.[8]

In Europe, the carriers are Elisa in Finland, Vodafone UK, Vodafone Ireland, Meteor Irl, T-Mobile UK, O2, Orange UK, 3, and Virgin Mobile UK. In Australia, it is exclusive to Telstra. In Japan, Softbank Mobile started sales in October.[9] In Turkey, Vodafone started sales in late November 2010.

In South Korea, SK Telecom began sales in May.

In Singapore, the official launch date was the 14th of May, 2010, and the phone has been up for sale by all carriers subsequently.

In mainland China, HTC launched its four flagship smartphones including the Desire on 27 July, 2010. Unlike in other markets, the device will be shipped with Android 2.2 (“Froyo”).

Many of the UK mobile networks have been unable to keep up with demand; Virgin Mobile UK, Vodafone UK, 3, T-Mobile UK and Orange UK are some of the networks experiencing very high demand.. The ash produced by the 2010 eruptions of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland led to some customers waiting a month getting their HTC Desires due to much of the European airspace being closed.

In India, HTC and TATA DOCOMO, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited, announced a partnership to launch HTC Desire in India on 16 August, 2010.

The Desire internally bears a strong resemblance to the Nexus One. The differences found in the Desire are:

* A different body shell
* An optical trackpad in place of the trackball
* Hardware function buttons instead of touch-sensitive buttons
* FM radio activated (FM radio in Nexus One is disabled by default but can be activated through hacked firmware)
* No second microphone for enhanced noise cancellation
* No dock pin connectors, instead micro-USB is used
* 576 MB DRAM instead of 512 MB DRAM
* Dual band HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100, 850/2100 or 850/1900 MHz depending on vendor instead of 850/1900/2100 Tri band
* HTC Sense interface (not present in the Nexus One)
* All support and updates directly through HTC rather than partially through Google

Because of the strong similarity to the Nexus One “developer phone”, the Desire enjoys a highly active third-party developer community. The Desire subforum is one of the most active at xda-developers, and notably Cyanogenmod is available for the device.

Manchester United’s 1998–99 season was the most successful in English club football history as they became the first team to win the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League – “The Treble” – in the same season. Losing 1–0 going into injury time in the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjær scored late goals to claim a dramatic victory over Bayern Munich, in what is considered one of the greatest comebacks of all time. The club also won the Intercontinental Cup after beating Palmeiras 1–0 in Tokyo. Ferguson was subsequently knighted for his services to football.

In 2000, Manchester United competed in the inaugural FIFA Club World Championship in Brazil, and won the league again in the 1999–2000 and 2000–01 seasons. The team finished as runners-up in 2001–02, before regaining the title in 2002–03. They won the 2003–04 FA Cup, beating Millwall 3–0 in the final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. In the 2005–06 season, Manchester United failed to qualify for the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in over a decade, but recovered to secure a second-place league finish and victory over Wigan Athletic in the 2006 Football League Cup Final. The club regained the Premier League in the 2006–07 and 2007–08 seasons, and completed the European double by beating Chelsea 6–5 on penalties in the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium. Ryan Giggs made a record 759th appearance for the club in this game, overtaking previous record holder Bobby Charlton. In December 2008, the club won the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup and followed this with the 2008–09 Football League Cup, and its third successive Premier League title. That summer, Cristiano Ronaldo was sold to Real Madrid for a world record £80 million. In 2010, Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 2–1 at Wembley to retain the League Cup, its first successful defence of a knockout cup competition.

During the 2010 NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz selected Gordon Hayward with the #9 overall pick, and Jeremy Evans in the second round.

Carlos Boozer agreed to a 5-year, $80 million contract with the Chicago Bulls in free agency on July 7, 2010. The Jazz turned the transaction into a sign-and-trade one day later, receiving a trade exception worth around $13 million in return from Chicago. Kyle Korver also agreed to sign with the Chicago Bulls, two days later, on July 9, 2010. Terms were not announced, but multiple reports have his deal for 3 years, $13 million.

Wesley Matthews signed a 5-year $33 million dollar offer sheet with the Portland Trail Blazers, as a restricted free agent, on July 10, 2010. The Jazz declined to match the offer, allowing Portland to acquire Matthews.

Less than a week after the Boozer defection, on July 13, 2010, the team traded Kosta Koufos and 2 future first round picks to Minnesota for Forward/Center Al Jefferson, using the trade exception from the Carlos Boozer deal to receive Jefferson’s contract without exceeding the salary cap.

Raja Bell was added also, to provide backcourt help after the losses of Korver and Matthews. He was signed to a 3-year, $10 million contract.

On June 15, 2010, the Jazz unveiled a new color scheme and logo which represented a return to the old ‘music note’ logo. The team unveiled new uniforms on August 16.

The Jazz tendered restricted free-agent center Kyrylo Fesenko a $1 million qualifying offer in June 2010. The offer entitled Utah to match any offer that Fesenko received from another team, whether signed or not. Fesenko signed the offer on September 27, 2010, the day before training camp began.

On the eve of training camp, the Jazz added two more players, center Francisco Elson and guard Earl Watson to shore up the roster for the 2010-11 season.

The Utah Jazz are a professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are currently a part of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The franchise began in 1974 as the New Orleans Jazz, based in New Orleans, Louisiana, but the team moved to Utah in 1979 after just five seasons. The Jazz were one of the most unsuccessful teams in the league in their early years, and it would be 10 years before they made a playoff appearance (in 1984). They would not miss the playoffs again until 2004. During the late 1980s, John Stockton and Karl Malone arose as the franchise players for the team, and formed one of the most famed point guard–power forward duos in NBA history. Led by coach Jerry Sloan, who took over for Frank Layden in 1988, they became one of the powerhouse teams of the 1990s, culminating in two NBA Finals appearances in 1997 and 1998, where they lost both times to the Chicago Bulls, led by Michael Jordan. Both Stockton and Malone moved on in 2003. After missing the playoffs for three seasons the Jazz have returned to prominence under the on-court leadership of the franchise point guard Deron Williams (Williams however was traded on February 23rd 2011). As of 2010, the Jazz are the only team in the Big Four sports leagues located in the state of Utah.

The Motorola Xoom (pronounced “zoom”) is an Android-based tablet computer by Motorola, introduced at CES 2011 on January 5, 2011. It is the first tablet to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb. It was released on February 24th, 2011. It was launched with 3 other products: the Motorola Atrix, the Motorola Droid Bionic, and the Motorola Cliq 2. CNET.com named it the “Best of the CES” 2011.

The Motorola Xoom supports up to 1080p video playback. It features a 2 MP front-facing camera for video chatting over Wi-Fi or cellular Internet and a rear-facing 5 MP camera that records 720p video. The Xoom has a 1280×800 widescreen, 10.1-inch display and 3D graphics acceleration, as well as HDMI-out. It features a variety of sensors, including a gyroscope, a magnetometer, an accelerometer and a barometer. The Xoom uses Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC. In January it was reported that the Xoom will come in a Wi-Fi only model as well as a 3G model through Verizon Wireless.

The Motorola Xoom will have support for the following video (H.263, H.264, MPEG4, VP8), and audio (AAC, AAC+, AMR NB, AMRWB, MP3, XMF) formats. In February 23rd Motorola Mobility announced that the Motorola Xoom would break its policy of locking down its devices by providing the gadget with a “unlockable/relockable bootloader that will enable developers to access hardware for development”

At first release, support for Adobe Flash and microSD slot will not be included. An Adobe Flash update will be available in the Android Marketplace in Spring 2011. A future software update will enable the microSD slot. Prior to release, no official statement has said whether the microSD slot will support SDHC or SDXC card families.

The Motorola Xoom supports docking stations for charging and as a stand for viewing video. It also features Bluetooth keyboard support.

The Xoom will run Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb, whose new features include a redesigned, tablet-optimized user interface, a 3D desktop purportedly taken from BumpTop (which Google acquired in April 2010), improved multitasking, Google Maps 5 in 3D and browser enhancements including tabs, form auto-fill and bookmark syncing.

Motorola aired a television spot during the 2011 Super Bowl that was designed as a satire of Apple’s landmark “1984″ Super Bowl ad. It depicted a dystopia in which all of humanity wears white hoodies and are plugged into iPods – a jibe at how Apple products had achieved cult-like status and practically ubiquitous market penetration.

The following week, a minor controversy erupted when Los Angeles filmmaker Mike Sarrow claimed that he had, in fact, originated the commercial’s idea first. In 2009, he shot a short film portraying a dystopian world where everyone is plugged into iPods to the point that all human conversation has ceased. The controversy was reported on numerous tech news websites, including CNET and Engadget, though no concrete evidence of intellectual property was presented, merely some suspicious similarities, including a nearly identical ending shot.
